We’re recruiting

Leicestershire County Council is currently recruiting volunteers to join our Environment Action Volunteer (EAV) scheme. EAV’s help Leicestershire residents to actively reduce their impact upon the environment with a focus on reducing household waste, increasing carbon awareness and improving biodiversity. The issue of household food waste brings many of these issues together.

We are interested in hearing from Leicestershire residents aged 18+ who have an interest in food, waste, sustainability and/or biodiversity;

  • who are willing to raise awareness of the environmental impact of wasting food
  • who are able to motivate others to waste less food
  • who are able to help others to reduce food waste at home by passing on relevant knowledge and skills.

However, we are particularly keen to hear from professionals in the food / agricultural industries in Leicestershire who are willing to share their passion for good food by;

Helping us plan and produce food waste prevention campaigns and content – contribute your ideas, produce written articles, recipes, tips, photos, videos and webinars, press releases and radio interviews.

Helping us deliver campaigns; like, comment, and share relevant content on social media. Respond to questions and comments via social media and websites. Advertise, advocate and engage people with food waste prevention messages.

Sharing your passion and knowledge – communicate your passion and knowledge to others both informally (you’ll practice what you preach) and formally e.g. by attending events, cooking demos & classes, providing talks / webinars for community groups, schools and other audiences, and developing relevant projects
