What happens to your recycling?

December 10, 2025

If you’ve ever wondered what happens to the contents of your recycling bin once it’s been collected, our new videos are for you.

We’ve filmed a tour of Casepak, a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Leicester which sorts the contents of recycling bins from Blaby, Charnwood, Harborough, Hinckley & Bosworth, Oadby & Wigston, and Melton.

Recycling collected in North West Leicestershire works a little differently – if you’re a North West Leicestershire resident, you can find out what happens to your recycling on the North West Leicestershire District Council website.

We also have videos on why we ask you to rinse and dry your recycling before putting it in your recycling collection, and why you shouldn’t put food, textiles, batteries or vapes into your recycling bins.

Why are you asking me to rinse and dry my recycling?
