Recycle Week 2025
September 22, 2025

It’s time to get rescuing this Recycle Week!
From Monday 22 September to Sunday 28 September, Leicestershire County Council will be supporting Recycle Now’s Recycle Week campaign, which will focus on rescuing recyclable materials by putting them in the recycling bin instead of the rubbish.
The theme this year is “Rescue Me – Recycle” which will see the characters from last year joined by some new friends.
Last year, the characters included a deodorant can, a plastic trigger spray bottle, a yoghurt pot, a perfume/aftershave bottle and a toilet roll tube, but this year Recycle Now are encouraging people to recycle shampoo bottles, foil and toothpaste tubes with the addition of ‘Shampers’, ‘Al’, and ‘Minty’ to the family of recyclable materials.
Do you currently recycle foil? …or empty shampoo bottles?
Whilst we ask for deodorant cans, yoghurt pots, toilet roll tubes, shampoo bottles, foil and toothpaste tubes to be recycled in line with the campaign, we ask for the trigger spray heads to be removed from the bottle and placed in the rubbish bin whilst the bottle can be put in the recycling if clean and dry. Any glass perfume bottles can be placed in the recycling but please remove the top first.
Throughout the week, keep a look out on our social media platforms @leicscountyhall and our Facebook @leicestershirerecycles to find out more about the characters.
