Experience/Skills Required To Join This Course Beginners and intermediates wanting to work in an environment of like-minded people who can help and encourage each other, share tips, knowledge and experience. Basic tool use including hammer, staple-gun, hand-sanding, gluing, painting. |
What Is The Course About? Learn how to fix and upcycle small pieces of furniture in a cost effective manner using your own creativity and imagination. |
For The Session/s You Will Need: A small easily transportable item to bring along to work on and some basic tools to mend or upcycle your item such as nails, staples, glue, fabric, paints and finishing sundries as you go. This is dependent on your own project and will be advised by your tutor. It must be noted that items cannot be stored and will need to be brought in and taken away each week. A basic group tool kit is available to share initially although students will be encouraged to build up tools specific to their projects. Please note- In the interests of health and safety we are unable to work on electrical items. |
Additional Costs And/Or Resources: This is dependent on each project. Students will be required to bring along and/or purchase tools, finishing materials: fabrics, wall papers, glues, sand papers, paints, protective varnishes, waxes, stains /special finishes and application brushes and/or rollers. Again your tutor can advise once your project details are known. |
How Will I Know How I Am Getting On? Students are encouraged to develop a personal pathway to becoming competent in building practical skill sets while working on their own project(s) and in so doing, deliver a successful and pleasing end result. Regular feed-back will be provided including one to one and group discussions. Idea and techniques sharing as well as creativity are always encouraged. There are never mistakes in upcycling only lessons to be learnt! Learners will be asked to complete an Individual Learning Plan to evidence their progress and achievement. |
