Community Paint Reuse Scheme

Community groups that can benefit from paint can access a variety of types and colours for free, as part of the Community Paint Reuse Scheme. If you think your group could benefit, please contact Blaby District Council on tel: 0116 272 7555 or e-mail: env.health@blaby.gov.uk.


Do you have unwanted paint you need to dispose of?

You can take your paint to Whetstone Recycling & Household Waste Site or Braunstone Civic Centre. From there, it will be taken for sorting and storage, before being redistributed to a community group that can put it to good use. Please see below for a list of accepted paints:


The following paint is accepted: The following cannot be accepted:
  • Emulsion
  • Gloss
  • Satin
  • Eggshell
  • Primer
  • Undercoat
  • Exterior Paints
  • Varnishes and woodstains
  • Car and industrial paints
  • Thinners and paint strippers
  • Aerosol and spray paints
  • Paint over 10 years old
