Waste Certificate

Schools have been recognised as an excellent place to promote waste reduction, both to pupils, teachers and also to parents and the wider community. It is important that we educate out future generation if we are to continue to reduce the amount of waste produced in Leicestershire.

Many schools are choosing to work towards the Eco School accreditation, which is a sustainable schools programme. Eco Schools covers a wide range of topics one of which is waste.

The Waste Certificate is designed to help schools achieve the waste section of the Eco School status. Schools will be shown how to reduce their waste and be allowed to gain recognition for their efforts.

The Waste Certificate has five steps namely, setting up an eco committee, conducting a waste audit, writing an action plan, taking part in classroom activities and finally applying for the certificate.

An Education Officer will be available to help schools to achieve this certificate by offering help and advice and by being actively involved at each stage.
