Fingers not quite green enough? Get a helping hand from one of our expert volunteers!
Volunteers from across the County have been trained as Master Composters as part of the Leicestershire Waste Partnership’s Scheme to raise the profile of home composting in the local community.
Master Composters are volunteers, who use their own skills and enthusiasm to help raise the awareness of the benefits of home composting, encourage more people to home compost and assist people with composting queries and problems.
To enlist the help of a Master Composter or for more information on the scheme please call John Levison on 0116 305 6376 or email john.levison@leics.gov.uk
We now have 68 active volunteers based throughout the county ready and willing to help you and your community, school or workplace find out more about how to reduce waste through composting.
They are experts in all things compost and can help you:

The role of Master Composters is to spend a minimum of 30 hours over 12 months spreading the composting message in their local community. As we have been running the Master Composter scheme since 2008 we have a number of very experienced volunteers who have spent over two thousand hours promoting composting.
Their work can include:
Attending a variety of events to promote home composting
If you would like a Master Composter to attend an event in your area, or give a talk to your community group or school please call John Levison on 0116 305 6376 or email john.levison@leics.gov.uk
Volunteers are supported by a dedicated Project Co-ordinator. The co-ordinator organises further training and networking opportunities, provides advice and information to volunteers, provides display materials and co-ordinates volunteer attendance at larger events.
Volunteers are also entitled to membership of Garden Organic, which gives them access to information and expert advice on a wide range of technical composting and gardening queries.
