What can go in?

The Green Johanna is a 'hot' composter so it can compost both garden and kitchen waste. To get the best compost from your Green Johanna you should add two parts cooked or uncooked food waste (including meat, fish, bones, dairy products, vegetables and fruit) to one part garden waste. The system will take approximately 6 months to start producing compost after which it can produce a rich compost all year round.

How does it work?

The Green Johanna is a fully enclosed hot composting system which uses the suns energy to aid the composting process. A complex ventalation system allows the heat to be circulated to help regulate the temperature throughout the bin and during the different seasons. The Green Johanna is a fully sealed unit including a base plate which will prevent unwanted pests getting in to the bin, whilst still allowing air circulation and helpful creatures such as worms to get in.

Installation

1. The Green Johanna requires being in a shady part of your garden (not direct sunlight).
2. The Green Johanna is required to be on a flat area of your garden (preferably on grass).
3. The doors to your Green Johanna are required to be screwed down at all times when access is not required.
