British Pie Week – 6th to 12th March

March 5, 2017

Britain is apparently a nation of pie lovers, with 75% of us enjoying a pie at least once a month.

Leicestershire has strong connections with pie, with Melton Mowbray being home to The pork pie, as well as hosting the hotly (and presumably coldly) contested annual British Pie Awards each year (8th March this year).

Pies are also quite useful when visualising the scale of food waste, and the fact that one third of all the food produced globally each year goes to waste.

Love Food Hate Waste have lots of tips to help you to reduce food waste, they also have lots of pie recipes designed to help you make the most your food and minimise wastage in your home.

If you are celebrating pie week, do your bit against food waste by trying one of the recipes below:

Greek cheese, spinach and ham pie
